who has been a bit poorly lately.
However, he has had a sucessful heart and lung transplant and
should be back with me in the next couple of weeks.
I say "he" .... well "he" is Henry, and is my one and
only mode of transport. I have been lost without him and
can't wait to have him back. Come the warmer weather,
the top will be off and I will too - wherever I can -

(Vic) LR-1953 it is regularly used for farm work, mainly as a
"motorised wheelbarrow" or pulling various trailers. My wife and
I drove it to Cooma in '88 and plan to take it again in
[1998].
It is pretty well original apart from turn indicators
and one or two other requirements of modernity.
Good to see Landrover well represented on the 'net!
Happy to make contact with other Series 1 buffs

I have owned it from 1982 and I use him (or her, I don't know) every day.
I've modified him from petrol to diesel, using a 2-litre Land Rover engine.
Other things I have altered are the axles and the gearbox; these are
series III parts. Thanks to this it's still going strong!

LandRover
- has an interesting history having been
sold new by Faulls in Perth in late 1976 nearly 18 months after it was built.
The vehicle spent 12 years in Onslow in the Pilbara region of North
Western Australia
and later some years in Bunbury in the South West before
living in Perth and stored in the open for 2 or 3 years.
Brian bought the Landrover from a friend in Perth who had 6 or 7 LandRovers
and was running out of room.
The vehicle has since moved to Adelaide and has been mechanically overhauled
after 330,000 kilometres and brought back to orginal specification, although
not much needed to be done in that category. It was susequently repainted
after a slight altercation with gravity, rolling on its side in soft sand
at Beachport. Little damage was sustained but enough to make a repaint
worthwhile.
Brian's LandRover is fitted with an overdrive and a Bosch 85 amp alternator
replacing the low output Lucas. (The only non standard part.)
The vehicle is not used every day however Brian takes it to the LandRover
Jamboree in the Flinders Ranges at Blinman each year and yes back to
Beachport every October. It is also a frequent visitor to Kangaroo Island and
participates in all events run by the Landrover Register of South Australia
and the Rover Car club of
South Australia.
The Series 3 has won several awards as a classic vehicle for presentation
and originality including Rovers on Reserve, and Power of the Past in the
Adelaide Hills in 1996 and 1997.
Brian says you can have an affair with a Jaguar
but a Land Rover is for life.
