CBT Javali: In the late 1980's CBT (Companhia Brasileira de Tratores - a traditional tractor company) began to assembled a ute, with some tractor components.
Engine, injector pump, body (steel, enlarged and welded - as Engesa), pedals, shifts, and others, were builted by CBT with tractor specifications. But the Javali wasn't durable or strong. It had a lot of problems (noise, smoke, spare parts, service), and was built for just 4 years.
When I think "Javali", I remember the 3-cylinder, 4 stroke turbo-diesel engine. The car's problems were generated by the engine and poor development.
The Javali 4x4 was powered by 2 types of engines. The catalog shows a rare 4-cylinder engine (I've never seen this engine).
Best features: Front axle (Dana, with ball-joint), brakes and style?
You rarely see any Javalis on tracks or at off-road jamborees. The Niva has the same problem, but the Lada representatives are trying to change its image.
2 years ago, my brother saw a converted Javali with 250 GM 6-cyl. gas
engine, 4.89 axle ratio, and 33" general tyres!
