2000 June: The current model Isuzu - General Motors (Holden) Frontera 4WD was launched in early 1999. It has had an 18-month freshen up to incorporate minor improvements, and to make it obvious who has a new one v. an old one. There are a new grille, new bumpers and new light clusters to set it apart; clear lenses are the current fashion and actually cheaper to make!
The long wheel base gets a very worthwhile security blind to protect the luggage compartment from prying eyes at the shopping centre.
The ABS brakes have been recalibrated for Australian dirt-road conditions.
Primarily the brakes cycle more slowly to build up
a wedge of dirt which give better stopping on dirt roads
and tracks.
Engines and transmissions remain the same - 3.2L V6 151kW 290Nm on the LWB and 2.2L 4-cyl 96kW 195NM on the SWB.
Inside, the sound system, seats and air conditioning have been revised. The passenger seat on the Sport gains a position memory, resetting after it has been folded for rear access.
