Jeep® Wrangler – Australia’s Best Selling Convertible

Jeep® Wrangler is officially Australia’s best selling convertible, according to industry VFACTS figures.

With 1,264 year-to-date sales as at October, Australians have bought more Jeep Wranglers than any other convertible model sold in Australia in 2005.

Making the achievement even more compelling, the Jeep Wrangler has outsold the next most popular convertible in the market, the Holden Astra Convertible (948 sales), by more than 33 per cent.

In all, for nine out of the 10 months of 2005 (to October) the Wrangler has been the most popular open air motor vehicle in Australia, culminating in the model’s overall leadership.

“For the one-of-a-kind sensation of real top-off, windshield-down, open-air driving, there is nothing like the Wrangler, and the Australian public obviously agrees,” said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Jeep Australia.

“The vehicle’s legendary off-road capability and rugged styling takes the traditional wind-in-your-hair convertible experience to another level,” said Jenkins.
The Jeep Wrangler’s standard soft-top and available hard top make it one of the most versatile vehicles in the market.

Jeep has introduced a string of special edition Wrangler’s this year to meet rising demand for the iconic four-wheel-drive. And all signs indicate sales will remain strong with Jeep having just introduced a new limited edition Wrangler Golden Eagle featuring a host of additional equipment and value.

Earlier this year, the Jeep Wrangler was recognised as having the lowest operating costs of medium sized four-wheel-drives in Australia, in the NRMA Motoring and Services Vehicle Operating Costs Survey 2005 - one of Australia’s most comprehensive private vehicle operating cost guides for consumers.

The Jeep Wrangler is in record-setting territory in 2005, with year-to-date sales, as at October having increased by 67 per cent compared to last year. Based on the current sell rate the Wrangler is poised to overtake the previous full year record of 1,458 sales, set in 1997 – the vehicle’s first full year on sale.

The Jeep Wrangler range starts from $29,990 for the 4.0L six cylinder Manual Sport featuring six-speed manual, dual range four-wheel-drive, soft top, CD stereo, air-conditioning and dual airbags.
