Motors Drives DaimlerChrysler Into Tasmania

For the first time, truck drivers across Tasmania now have full access to the DaimlerChrysler range of world class, medium-to-heavy duty vehicles.

The Motors Group, Tasmania's largest multi-franchise vehicle retailer, has opened the state’s first dedicated DaimlerChrysler dealership at Connector Park in Kings Meadows, Launceston.

The full DaimlerChrysler range – Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Sterling – will be available.

“Drivers and owners in Tasmania probably don’t yet realise how good the DaimlerChrysler products are and we are expecting a lot of interest,” said Michael Tierney, State Sales Manager for Motors.

The DaimlerChrysler dealership, has been situated in Launceston because most of Tasmania’s heavy truck work is based around the ports on the north coast. However, the dealership will also have an office in Hobart.

“Motors has been selling and servicing light and medium trucks for some years, but we believed we needed to be able to offer heavy duty vehicles as well,” Michael said.

“We had a good look at our options and decided to team up with DaimlerChrysler because they have great products, a powerful support system and considerable growth potential.

“We saw DaimlerChrysler’s range as a major benefit, as there is a truck to suit every customer’s need.”

The Mercedes-Benz models offer the latest in European cab-over technology; the powerful Freightliner line-up specialises in long-distance haulage and has been specifically adapted to cope with Australia’s heavier, bigger, faster and hotter operating environments; while Sterling trucks have been designed to perform in tight, urban situations and are ideal for agitator and tipper applications.

The Motors Group has successfully providing mechanical and body repair services to Tasmania’s trucking industry for some time, and this capability will benefit its new DaimlerChrysler customers.

“We will be able to trade-in someone’s old truck, sell them a new one, and then provide them with first class after-sales service, maintenance and repairs,” Michael said.

“And, at every stage, Motors’ reputation and credibility will be on the line.

“Tasmania is a small place and we can’t afford to upset one person, so this partnership between DaimlerChrysler and Motors is nothing but good news for Tasmania’s owners and drivers.”
