Jeep Launches Its Latest Models

Jeep will launch its latest models in Australia next week – a dedicated footwear and apparel range, available through Chrysler Jeep dealers, selected retail stores and an Australian first Jeep concept store.

After its amazing success overseas, the initiative will strengthen Jeep’s position as the leading automotive adventure brand in Australia.

Internationally, the appeal and demand for Jeep branded products from the outdoor lifestyle market has been phenomenal. In 2004, retail sales of Jeep lifestyle products topped $500 million U.S. dollars and grew by a staggering 50 per cent. Sales have grown at an average rate of 29 per cent annually since 1998.

Jeep adventure active wear will appeal to men and women looking for outstanding quality and international style while working or playing outdoors. With demand continuing to grow globally, the range has expanded across 40 countries on six continents.

The flagship Australian Jeep concept store, located at Highpoint Shopping Centre (shop 3155), Maribynong in Victoria, opens on Tuesday October 18, 2005. With concept stores established in South Africa and Lisbon the Jeep store at Highpoint will provide the first Jeep concept store in Australia.

Michael Ross, general manager marketing and product strategy for Chrysler Jeep Australia, sees the growth of the Jeep brand into adventure orientated clothing and footwear as a natural extension of a brand already well entrenched as an icon in the four-wheel-drive market.

“We are the automotive brand leader when it comes to adventure on four wheels,” said Ross.

“Now we are taking up the international lead of expanding into one of the fastest growing retail segments – adventure active wear.

“It suits our go anywhere, do anything brand and it suits the Australian love of the outdoors,” said Ross.

Jeep apparel and footwear has been designed with the dependability, toughness and durability that Jeep vehicles are renowned for.

Ken Hanvey, head of Revolution Brands, which has the Australian license for Jeep apparel and footwear, is confident that the marriage of automotive brand and outdoor apparel and footwear products will be a success.

“The brand is really strong and so is the product range. It covers everything from t-shirts and tops to walking shoes and caps, and the style is sure to impress,” said Hanvey.

Jeep vehicle sales in Australia for 2005 are tracking strongly, with sales for the month of September up an impressive 32 per cent over last year’s result and year-to-date sales up 9 per cent over 2004.

Jeep is a registered trademark of DaimlerChrysler Corporation and is used under licence in Australia for Jeep apparel and footwear to Australian owned company Revolution Brands.
