All Jayco Models Proving Popular as Holiday Bookings Begin in Earnest
Premier recreational vehicle (RV) manufacturer, Jayco, with a staggering 44 per cent of the national market, reports high demand for all models within its extensive fleet of motor homes, campervans, caravans, pop-tops, Expandas and camper trailers. October is the traditional holiday booking time for caravan park sites, which generates great interest in new RVs and Jayco’s network of more than 30 dealers nationwide are all reporting significant sales. Helping to keep Jayco very much the country’s No. 1 choice in RVs is the company’s 30th Anniversary Cash Back Competition, which is open to all 2005 purchasers of this year’s towable models. The popularity of Outback holidaying has also seen a grater sales of Jaycos that incorporate its Outback Pack, which transforms standard models into hardier RVs able to go most places a 4WD or all-wheel-drive can go. Heritage models, the flagship range of the fleet of towable RVs, continue to remain Australia’s number one choice in caravans and the pop-top version is even challenging Jayco’s Freedom models, which have been the country’s No. in pop-tops for more than five years. Most popular Heritage models are those with shower and toilet, making them a completely self-contained holiday experience and a favourite among retirees. The Freedom pop-top’s grip on the national market is because it has so many features as standard, which are optional extras in other brands. Initially considered a niche RV, Jayco Expanda models – a hybrid cross-over between a caravan and camper trailer – have also come into their own in 2005, with their popularity spiraling because by having bed-ends that extend outside the van’s superstructure there is greater living space within the unit. It’s that roominess that has always made the company’s camper trailers so popular with families. The “small to tow, big to live in” Jayco camper trailers, have a strong loyal following from families because most can sleep six, some larger models can even accommodate seven and even eight! It is in the camper trailer that is in high demand from Outback travellers, with Jayco now building at least 50 per cent of all its camper trailers now coming off the production line with the built-in Outback pack. Apart from the overall look of all Jayco towable models, another reason for their popularity is that all models are built with aluminium framing. In Outback models additional diagonal bracing giving extra strength to side frames and checker plate aluminium cladding on the bottom section of side and rear ends of the frame provide extra protection. The unique galvanised Millennium chassis is also standard on every towable model. And in the Outback range larger main chassis members are used along with an underslung axle with ALKO Outback leaf spring suspension. Lighting in all models works off 12-volt, via the 240 12-volt converter, which also can operate as a trickle feed auxiliary battery charger. When an optional 12-volt auxiliary battery is fitted you can still achieve the same light as that from a 240-volt light source. |
