Tucson Tops Personal Best Improved supply of Hyundai’s compact all-wheel-drive Tucson V6 SUV saw more buyers drive them from dealer showrooms in March than in any month since its launch last August, with 377 units sold. Continuing strong demand for Hyundai’s newly launched Turbo-Diesel Terracan CRDi 4WD wagon saw it sustain Terracan overall sales to its third best month with 233 registered, less than last month’s 301 record as stocks ran short. Terracan CRDi from $37,490rrp is the most affordable diesel seven-seat, dual-range 4WD wagon on the market and already accounts for around two-thirds of Terracan sales. Hyundai maintained its hold on seventh outright place and fifth passenger car place in the Australian automotive market with 3925 sales in March, up 7.2 per cent on March 2004. Hyundai’s first quarter sales tally of 11,127 vehicles is up 16 per cent on the first quarter of 2004, according to official March car sales figures released today by car industry statistician VFACTS. Hyundai claimed 4.5 percent of the total market for March and 4.7 percent year-to-date, compared to 4.3 and 4.2 percent in 2004 respectively. Getz was again the top-selling light car hatchback with 1321 sold and was only eclipsed for the Light Car segment by its major competitor also marketing a sedan variant. In the next up Small Car class, Hyundai moved up to fourth place in March from February’s fifth with combined sales 1689 cars, comprising Elantra’s 1242—its third best ever month—and Accent’s 447 deliveries. |
