Hi, I have a 1998 Ford Explorer and I am wanting to convert it to LPG can anyone help me. I have been told that this model has a Plastic manifold and is prone to cracking from backfire. Is there anyone who can advise me as to whether this is true. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

i remeber an artical in 4wheeler magazine where they did a lp conversion on a 77 chevy towtruck... june 2004... that was a carborated 350... its a hell of a lot harder to gas up a newer motor thanks to the wonders of EFI... your looking at re-programing it, or a total replacement of the computer... basically what you need to do is somehow find a trotlebody fuel injection system and customize it to accept lp... or if your lucky enough you might find a factory one at a state auction or in a junk yard but it is a nedle in a haystack... if you ask me your opening up massive can of worms thats gonna cost a few bucks... if you really want a lp motor get an older truck... or motor swap...
