Oka.
The Oka four wheel drive is available with a wide variety of bodywork
thanks to a set of modular components.
This bus (right) is set up for tourist operations in the outback
or for delivering work crews to off road
sites.
The standard engine in an Oka is a Perkins turbo-diesel,
but this crew-cab Oka at the
1997
National 4X4 Show
in Melbourne has a Chevy V8.
It was one of a number of test vehicles built for Saudi Arabia -
well they grow petrol don't they.
The standard 4-wheel disc brakes are well able to
stop it.
This Oka (left) is in Australian Air Force colours.
The Australian military
have some Oka's on test, but have no significant numbers
(as of '96). Manufacturer's figures:Power 81 at 2800, torque 354 at 1600, 5spd gearbox, 2spd transfer-case, wheel-base 3045mm, 8.25x16 or 9.00x16 tyres. More on Oka |
