Australian National 4WD Radio Network
Inc. - news 30/10/97.
VKS-737 Adelaide Base Operating Schedules:
With the introduction of Daylight Saving in South Australia from the
26th of October the existing daily Voice Call Schedule has been moved
from it original time of 1730 to 1800 hours Central Standard Time to the
NEW time of 1830 to 1900 hours SA Daylight Saving Time.
The new times
will continue until the end of March when daylight saving finishes in
SA. The published times for Alice Springs and Perth bases remain
unchanged.
VKS-737 Alice Springs Base:
With the addition of new equipment at Alice Springs members now have
access to the base on these separate Selcall Numbers: 6104 with
Selective Beacon, 0003 with Selective Beacon & 3939 with Selective
Beacon as well as Basic Beacon on 3999.
VKS-737 St Marys Base (Tas):
An application as been lodged with the Australian Communications
Authority for a Base Station to be installed at St Marys in Tasmania.
This base is primarily designed to give coverage into Victoria and New
South Wales (particularly in the High Country). Further details will
announced as soon as the licence is issued by ACA.
VKS-737 Woomera Base:
As part of the ongoing rationalization and expansion of the Network it
has been decided not to renew the licence for the Woomera Base past its
present expiry date of December 8th 1997. With the enhanced coverage now
provided by the Adelaide, Alice Springs, Gosford and Perth Bases it is
felt tha the Woomera Base now provides only very minor input into the
running of the Network and should be replaced by new bases in areas not
directly covered by existing bases. We are presently negotiating 4
additional bases to give extended coverage to members travelling in all
parts of Australia. Details of the new bases will be announced in Sofcom
4WD News
when we are closer to commissioning dates.
