Nokia Offroad Trial, 9 August 1997.

This was two days of off-road competition. The first day had 6 tracks which were driven twice and the second day had 8 tracks.

Laaksonen/Walden's MB-Willys Jeep (Group III) falls out of the competition.

The tracks were hard and when you have two days competition and only repair time many cars stopped from mechanical failures. Total count for rollovers might be around 25-30! First day's competition starts at 11am and the last car was out of the track by 8pm. Second day was shorter because there weren't so many cars left! Hard work prize was given to Ojanpera/Metsankyla, because they drove to the finish with their 3-wheel drive Jeep. This was the first time trucks have been in the competition and they drove the Group I route which was a little narrow for the big Sisu military trucks. Yes our result - one rollover, two broken finger in left hand (it was a little hard drive only one hand), one broken halfshaft (change), and second day problems started with the automatic gearbox cooler. We spent 29 minutes of our hour repair time but made the track. Overall place 12.
