Pink Panther
The Pink Panther was a special long range patrol vehicle created by Marshall Specialist Vehicles of Cambridge for the British army.
The standard as-new colour was in fact Land Rover's usual green
but they were repainted this amazing pink colour for use
on desert patrols as it is supposed to make for low visibility
in that environment.
After that the nickname was inevitable.
Taylor (1996) reports that 72 Pink Panthers were made.
The Australian army had its own locally built equivalent
