Land Rover Defender 90.

Royal Parks
Royal Parks D90, St. James Park London, 2001

The standard engine for the D90 was Land Rover's own 300-series 2.5L Tdi 4-cyl diesel from 1994-1998, although the USA still got the 3.9L V8 for a time. In 1998 the 5-cylinder Td5 engine was fitted.

Australia doesn't get any (official) D90s. On the other hand, Australia does get the Defender 110. According to Land Rover, the Defender 90 series will not be imported into Australia as it does not meet Australian specification standards.

However, one or three D90's have been brought into Australia either as private or small-volume imports. This one (right) was brought in privately as components, assembled locally and registered - at some considerable difficulty. It was at the Cooma '98 anniversary.

This is a British Land Rover Defender 90 Tdi hard top (left). The lack of side windows brings a tax advantage in the United Kingdom and such vehicles are very common, hard tops and hard-top utes being particularly popular with farmers in the hill country such as Wales and Cumbria.
