[See also.] Western Star is a Canadian truck builder, based in Kelowna, British Columbia. It was "established as White Western Star in 1967 by White Motor Co.". In 1981 it was renamed Western Star Trucks Inc. and came under Canadian control. In 1991 it was bought by Terrence E. Peabody of Australia. Trucks and a light military 4WD are built at Kelowna Canada. Buses are built in New York at Orion Bus Industries, acquired in 1995. Cab-over trucks are made in the UK, at what was ERF, acquired in 1996. 2000:
