Unimog 404
C. Thisse's
1962 Unimog 404 is based in
Tours, in the centre of
France.
The truck is an ex French army model and
still in good condition.
Its owner uses the Unimog to
haul wood in the forest, a task it does very well
due to the good ground clearance and low ground pressure.
The Unimog 404 weighs 2900kg empty and
4400kg loaded.
The engine is a 6-cylinder petrol unit of 2200cc.
The first Unimogs were built in the late 1940s.
They feature diff' locks, portal axles with hub reduction gears,
and the ability to carry and power many special pieces of
equipment.
