1999 October, 400 4-door Subaru Impreza WRX STi VI's have been landed in Australia, being launched at the SYdney Motor Show. The car has the 206kW engine of the 2-door STi that was such a hit earlier.
Price is an RRP of $62,500 ($au 10/1999)
and it will be interesting to see if any buyers quickly try
to resell them at higher prices, as happened to some extent with
the 2-door.
1999 Jan':A shipment of 400 Subaru Impreza WRX STi's
arrived in Australia for sale in January 1999.

The Impreza WRX STi has many features derived from the successful Subaru world rally car: bucket seats, a strut brace to strengthen the suspension. In the engine department there is a larger capacity exhaust system, a revised intake manifold and larger teflon coated(!) turbo-charger. Forged alloy pistons, sodium filled exhaust valves, and hollow inlet valves deal with the higher revs and greater heat loads. Power rises to 206kW at 6500rpm and torque to 353Nm at 4000 on 100 RON petrol (v. 160kW at 5600rpm and 290Nm at 4000rpm standard). 1-100km/h in 4.9 seconds is claimed for the Japanese specification model. ABS brakes are fitted and, in case you stop too quickly, there are dual airbags.
Go and show items such as 16" gold alloy wheels, bonnet scoop, and high rear-spoiler are fitted.
Creature comforts include air-conditioning, leather MOMO steering wheel and AM/FM radio cassette. An alarm/immobiliser and central locking should keep this desirable property in the owner's possession.
The "damage" is an RRP of au$60K+ (1/1999) ... if you can track one down.
