2000 August: New Impreza WRX released in Japan, and in Australia ~October. The new look has caused some slight controversy, apparently the rounded headlights (eyes) and down-turned grille (sour puss) not being the everyone's liking. Flared mudguards cover 17" wheels and MacPherson strut suspension is retained.
Plenty of go however - WRX (.jp) engine:
2-litre, flat 4-cyl',
turbo-charged and intercooled,
4-valves/cyl', 184kW at 6000rpm,
333Nm at 3600rpm although, given the right bits,
the makers can pretty much dial up whatever power they want,
up to the 200kW+ of the STi's.

2000 March:
Do you descibe the colour as custard or
[something less kind] yellow?
Well, other drivers will certainly see you coming, and
yellow is said to be the safest colour.
