The Subaru Forester GT (left) went on sale in September 1998 with a 125kW version of the turbo-charged flat 4-cylinder based on that found in the Subaru Impreza.

The Forester was introduced into Australia in 1997. The standard engine is a 92kW, 16-valve, 2-litre, flat-four. The Limited version gets ABS brakes and dual air-bags.
Prices range from $26,990+orc for the standard 5-speed manual
to $41,990 to the GT (turbo) with automatic transmission, full extras
and top-level trim.
