Kings Canyon
There is a bitumen road into Kings Canyon, running north from the Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Stuart Highway road. (Alternative dirt roads may be smooth if recently graded, or corrugated if not.) The Kings Creek cattle station, half an hour or so short of the Canyon is a good place to stay - a swimming pool, and very friendly people who will draw you into the life of the station if there is anything on. There is also a resort closer to the Canyon. Petrol is likely to be 30% more expensive than in major cities.
