Nissan X-Trail 4X4
2001 March: The Nissan X-Trail is a light duty "life style" :-) four wheel drive, currently in production in Japan. The standard engine is a 2-litre petrol unit, driving through a push button four wheel drive system which gives a choice of two wheel drive, automatic four wheel drive, and constant four wheel drive. The Nissan X-Trail was first shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show. Nissan Australia is considering importing the X-Trail and, if so, it may be offered with a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine to be on par with its obvious competitors. The company says that the X-Trail compliments the mid-size Pathfinder and large Patrol 4WDs, but you have to wonder of it could give the Pathfinder, or more likely the Terrano II, the shove, in the long run. The X-Trail has the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Landrover Freelander, Mazda Tribute and Toyota RAV4 in its sights. - 4wd.sofcom.com/4WD.html |
