Rainbow Beach - Four Wheel Driving with a Difference
Rainbow Beach,
nestled in on the coastline of the Cooloola Region,
between Fraser Island and Noosa, provides the perfect backdrop to your
next holiday of leisure and adventure. Visitors from all across
Australia take advantage of the numerous activities throughout the
Rainbow Beach area. In particular, Four Wheel drive enthusiasts travel
through the Cooloola National Park to view Rainforest, or drive along
over 30km of unspoiled beaches to visit icons such as the Cherry Venture
shipwreck and Double Island Point lighthouse.
Just 2 hours drive north of Brisbane, Rainbow Beach, ``the gateway to Fraser Island'', is all about doing something different to your daily routine, to recharge your batteries, and let the natural beauty surround you. This young, vibrant coastal town, is also the home of the annual Rainbow Beach 4WD Enviro Trek, a humour based observation trek that utilises the Cooloola National Park and Cooloola Coast beaches, on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November 1999. Speed does not play any part in this event. A points system determines
the winner, giving everyone an equal chance of winning. Points are
awarded for correct answers, as well as bonus points for displaying
sponsor stickers, collecting rubbish, and dressing up yourself and your
vehicle.
Event Organiser, Adrian Patterson said, ``A sense of humour is almost crucial to be an entrant in this event, and as such previous years have seen entrants and vehicles in themes such as Priscilla, the Hillbillies and Pamela Anderson, just to name a few.'' ``"Bribery" and "corruption" is also prevalent each year, as a pocket full of Gold can help you gain points from some of the local community groups you may meet along the way.'' The Rainbow Beach Enviro Trek is an event for all, catering for families, travellers, couples, singles, and both novice and experienced four wheel drivers. Entry is $35 per vehicle, and includes a bronze grill badge and an event
T-Shirt.
