Tyrepliers Tyre Levers

Recently I acquired a new set of tyre levers to supplement my current pair. This way I am able to keep one set in the truck and the other set at home. Having been well satisfied with the Tyrepliers Beadbreakers, I was more than happy to try their tyre levers. The sturdiness of their products meant I would be assured of a strong lever.

Anyway, the next puncture occurred near my home, so I decided to try out the new levers rather than fix the flat where I was.

The levers are round in cross section and 600mm in length. One lever has a gooseneck like design at one end and both have a traditional flattened end. The idea of the Gooseneck is to make removal and replacement of wheel casings onto one-piece rims. This end is like a mini version of their bull bar mounted tyre-changing equipment. This last piece of gear I have seen demonstrated and had a try at the demonstration. It works well but takes up a fair bit of space. I will stick with my split-rims.

Back to the tyre levers. The tip is more solid than the levers I normally used.

This slowed down my removal of the locking ring; however, this is a minor problem and may well have been due to the rim rather than the lever. A few seconds with an angle grinder soon had the tip thinned by 1mm and from then on, no problem.

The levers are more comfortable to use than the flat design I had previously used. They are as strong as I would have expected, a little extra stress was applied (semi-destructive testing) and I could NOT get them to bend.

In summary, a good pair of levers and are available as part of a kit which includes the bead-breakers, tyre and tube patches and a canvas bag. This kit is readily available through the well-known 4WD retail outlets such as Opposite Lock; look under Accessories/Australia in 4WD-Links.
