This drive actually consists of two motoring events:
the Classic Reliability Trial
and the 4x4 Adventure Drive.
The Classic Reliability Drive is a
competitive event for all classic and historic cars
built prior to 1978 -
from aged Austins to venerable Volvos.
There are six age categories from vintage to seventies.
There are different classes for different body types and engine capacities.
Pre-1978 four wheel drives and utility vehicles have a special category.
The 4X4 Adventure
is a non-competitive but spectacular event
with optional on-road and offroad side trips.
The planned route takes in
eastern Europe, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Ethiopia and Kenya, on
its way to Cape Town, South Africa.
Daily milage will be between 250 and 750 miles.
