Merita Off Road and Safarimestarit proudly presents the First International "Harjun Huumaa" Safari for Road Taxed 4x4 Vehicles 18-20 September 1998 in Ravijoki, Finland

Ravijoki is situated near Hamina in southeastern Finland, close to Russian border. The venue is 900 hectares of typical Finnish forest with rugged tracks (some of which date back to WWII), cliff climbing and muddy sections. This summer has been really wet, so be prepared for a mud party.
Be early, because the participation is limited up to 70 vehicles. Being Safari for road taxed 4x4 vehicles, the tyre size is limited up to 35" (except for Hummer's standard 37" and modified or prototypes are not allowed to attend.
Preliminary program
Friday, 18 September- safari opens at 7pm
- night safari for more experienced drivers starts at 9pm
- sauna and swimming
- gathering of vehicles at 9am
- training starts at 10.30am (trainer Pekka Husgafvel)
- safari starts at 12pm in groups of 10 vehicles each
- exercises and assignments in the tracks
- meals during the safari can be prepared at designated fire places
- sauna and swimming
- prize giving at 10am
- end of safari
Costs
Safari fee is 80 FIM (approximately $16 USD) per car inluding both Friday and Saturday safaris.Accomodation
Three types of accomodation available.- place for your own sleeping bag in a log cabin by the sea
- 50 FIM per person weekend - place for your own sleeping bag in a school premises
- 50 FIM per person weekend - hostel where bed clothing and towels provided
- 120 FIM per person per night
- 140 FIM per person per night including breakfast
Other: The Safari is organized by Merita Off Road and Safarimestarit. The Patron of the event is Rector Olavi Ropponen. Main sponsors are Shell Oy Ab Finland, Iltalehti-newspaper and MeritaNordbanken. The event will be covered in the newspapers. Some of the 4x4 car importers bring their new vehicles to Ravijoki for testing. Average temperature in Finland in the autumn varies from +8 - +15 C.
