The Pajero 4WD Club is holding its annual inter-club self
guided tour of East Victoria, Australia, called CHALLENGE
'98 on the 21st and 22nd March 1998. This event is again
being organised by an enthusiastic group of club members.
The trip is open only to members of VAFWDC
affiliated clubs. As the route is typical of tracks used by
clubs in their normal 4WD trips, the trip is suitable for
families wanting a challenge, and can be done in a standard
4WD with good off-road tyres. Part of this challenge is
being able to handle the endurance of up to 24 hours
continuous navigation and 4wdriving.

Challenge '98 will be similar in length to previous
years. It will start around 10am on Saturday and will finish
on Sunday morning. The approximate distance is 350 - 400km.
Petrol and diesel fuel will be available en-route.
There will be approximately 80 grid references to plot as
well as track notes, stick charts, compass bearings and map
traces to follow. You may use maps other than those
specified at the driver's briefing, but all instructions
will be regarded as correct only on the official maps.
This year there are again optional hard sections, which
may be hard 4wdriving or hard navigation, or both! Some
sections will be speed limited, and these may have secret
radar checks. This trip is not a race. Your planning of
travel and time does require some preparation though, but
anyone caught speeding by our radar cameras, or acting in a
manner detrimental to the 4WD Code of Ethics shall be asked
to leave the event.
