Newsflash:
The licence has been received for the VKS-737
Australian National 4WD
Radio Network Base at St. Mary's Tasmania.
The base will commence basic
operation on the 9th of December 1997.
The operators of the base will be Michael, Gerald & Wendy Aulich who can
be contacted by telephone on
Testing of the base will commence on the 9th with a planned daily voice schedule between 1930 & 2000 hrs Tasmanian Time. Initially the sked will commence on 5455kHz, then rotate around the other Network frequencies as required.
The beacons will be operational 24 hours a day. Please Note: In the early stages both transmitters may or may not be operational at all times. Daytime operation of the base will initially be subject to an operator being available, however when the remote interconnect unit becomes operational on Selcall 0701 to 0798 then we should be able to provide extended coverage hours via a team of volunteer operators. Further updates on the progress of the base will be announced via the 4WD Internet Magazine.
