The 50th Anniversary Land-Rover Gathering Cooma NSW 1998PO Box 962 |
Newsletter No. 2
For interested Land Rover enthusiasts
Background
Land Rover celebrates its Golden Jubilee in 1998. For 50 years, since the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, the company's products have served the world and are still hailed as masters of rough terrain travel.
The Event
The 50th Land Rover Gathering is a national gathering being organised by the Land Rover Owners' Club of Victoria Inc. (LROCV) and assisted by the Range Rover Club of New South Wales. (RRC of NSW). The event will be held at Cooma, because of the town's geographical location and strong historical links with Land Rover through the construction of the famous Snowy Mountains Scheme.
Cooma is located in south-east NSW, 600km from Melbourne, 400km from Sydney and only 115km from Canberra. It offers a wide variety of accommodation and facilities.
The event is being promoted throughout Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
People with an interest in Land Rovers will be coming from all over Australia to participate in activities and share ideas, experiences and yarns. The event is open to all Land Rover products - Land Rovers, Range Rovers and Discoveries. Owners of other vehicle makes are most welcome to attend and participate in the spirit of the event. However certain activities will be only for Land Rovers (i.e. Cavalcade and Land Rover displays). You do not have to be a member of any club to attend and participate in the event.
When
The Gathering will be conducted during Easter 1998 (Friday 10th April - Monday 13th April). The event falls in the New South Wales and Victorian school holidays (10th-26th April), so people attending may wish to stay in the area longer, or use the time to take a more leisurely trip travelling to/from Cooma.
It may be a good idea to plan ahead, so book your holidays now! It could be that trips to and from the event will be organised by clubs lasting several days to a week, but more of that closer to the time.
