1998 is the 50th anniversary of the
release of the Land Rover,
at the Amsterdam Motor Show of 1948.
Land Rover owners nationally and internationally
will be holding events to celebrate this Golden Jubilee.
The main Australian Land Rover 50th event will be held
at Cooma NSW over Easter 1998.
Cooma has historical links to early Land Rovers through the
Snowy
Mountains Hydro-Electic Project
which used many Land Rovers during its construction phase.
Cooma was chosen as the venue of the Land Rover 40th Anniversary
in 1988; it seems like yesterday.
The Land Rover 50th is being organised by
the Land Rover Owners Club
of Victoria and the
Range Rover Club
of New South Wales.
People with an interest in Land Rover four wheel drives
and owners of all types of Land Rover -
series one to
series three and
110, 90 and Defender,
and also the "rounded" Land Rovers -
Discovery,
Range Rover and by 1998
Freelander -
are welcome.
Owners of other types of vehicle are very welcome to attend
and to participate in the event.
Certain activities such as the Grand Parade
are reserved for Land Rover products.
