Australian International Motor Show - Sydney.

217,140 visitors attended the 1996 show - nearly 10% up on 1995. The 1997 show will be at Darling Harbour 17-26 October 1997.

1996:

Darling Harbour 11-20 October 1996
10am - 10pm (Sundays 10am - 7pm)
Adults $10; family $25; seniors, pensioners and children (u16) $5.

Visitors were eligible to enter for the Limited Edition Daihatsu F2 car prize.

Australian four wheel drivers got to see the soon to be released Jeep Wrangler, the imminent Kia Sportage and the recently released Ssangyong Musso. Honda showed off its CR-V four wheel drive challenger to the likes of Toyota RAV4 and Suzuki Vitara.

Exoticars included BMW Z3, MGF, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes Benz SLK coupe, Lotus Elise, Aston Martin DB7, Jaguar XK8 coupe and convertible, Ferraris and the Lamborghini Diablo.

Less exotic creations included Bon Trikes and the Razorback VW-based one-tonne ute.

Race cars from the Australian Touring Car Championship were also be on show.

The final round of the World Motor Cycle Championship at Eastern Creek was held during the 2nd week of the show. Michael Doohan crashed out in a last-lap collision with his Honda team mate - bummer.
