Muckleburgh Collection
The Muckleburgh Collection is situated on the old Weybourne Military Camp on the North Norfolk coast. It was active as a coastal defence base during World War 2 and for anti-aircraft training. As far back as the 16th century it was the site of a fort against the threat posed by the Spanish Armada. The collection has sections on the Norfolk Yeomanry, artillery, tanks and other armoured vehicles, armoured cars and troop carriers, the RAF, anti-aircraft weapons, and models of vehicles, ships & aircraft. There are 15 tanks, and numerous armoured vehicles and military trucks. The tanks include Churchill (a Crocodile flame thrower), Sherman, Sexton SPG, Sherman based --> Stewart M3A1, Chaffee M24, Patton M47, Panzer 61, Russian T34, Centurion, Chieftain, Russian T55 (and bridge), French AMX13, Swiss PZ61, and Abbot SPG. They are runners and you can have a driving lesson and take some of them for a spin (for a fee), by arrangement, conditions permitting. 1998: Open 10am-5pm 15 February every day to 1 November.
