The six wheel drive M543 was built by Kaiser International, and others, from 1960 onwards. It was used by the Australian Army from 1962. The full history of this vehicle is not known, but it has been painted in the colours of the 1st Division Supply and Transport Workshop Detachment RAEME as based at Vung Tau, Vietnam 1968.
The truck lives at the Melbourne Tank Museum - you must visit -
except when it is on outings such as this
one at the Australia Day parade.
