2000 July: Two
new SLK sports cars from Mercedes Benz -
the SLK320 with the 3.2 litre V6 and
the SLK200 Kompressor (supercharger).
The SLK230K continues.
The 3.2 produces 160,
the SLK200 Kompressor 120 of power and 163 of torque,
the SLK230K 145 and 280.
A six-speed manual gearbox is available on the SLK200K and SLK230K.
Safety features:
dual airbags, side airbags,
seat belt tensioners and force limiters,
ABS brakes and BAS & ESP.
There are some minor styling changes:
new bumpers and side mouldings,
rear lights, stainless steel tail-pipe, and
painted radiator grille.
160,000 SLKs have been sold from its introduction
in late 1996 to mid 2000.
