SL 55 AMG
2001 September: Mercedes Benz unveiled the SL 55 AMG sports car at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The SL500 variant has a 225 V8, and the SL 55 AMG a supercharged engine (350, 700 at 2650). The 5-speed automatic gearbox can be controlled by "paddles" on the steering wheel.
Safety features include electro-hydraulic brakes (i.e. brake by wire), Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC), Active Body Control system (ABC), and Electronic Stability Control (ESP).
