Mazda MX Sports Tourer
2001:
The Mazda MC Sports Tourer concept is an
experiment in styling and layout on the station wagon cum
people mover themes.
Power comes from a
hybrid engine -
a 2-litre petrol engine joined to
an electric motor of 40kW, 108Nm.
The electric motor drives the rear wheels.
not clear if petrol motor drives front only or all 4 -->
The rear side doors are rear hinged,
and there is no B-pillar, as
in the RX-EVOLV
sports car.
The rear roof retracts forwards
for open top motoring or to allow easy access
to the rear load area and to allow tall loads to be carried.
This show car looks unusually practical for the genre, and
if it can be made strong enough, and to a price,
it could well be a shape of motoring to come.
