Mazda Astina Allsport
Mazda has produced a concept four wheel drive,
the Astina Allsport, based on the Mazda 323.
It was first shown at Birmingham 1998 as the Country Concept.
The Astina is powered by Mazda's 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine,
producing 100kW at 5800rpm and 178Nm at 4500rpm.
It drives through a four speed automatic gearbox which has
the option of "manual" selection of gear-shifts;
sounds tiptronicky?
Suspension is raised 40mm over the 4x2 Mazda 323,
but the result is more in keeping with
Subaru Imprezas
than with heavy- or even medium-duty four wheel drives;
it's attractive enough.
Tyres are 215/50R17 on 17x7JJ rims.
