Mazda 626
2000 August:
This number is definitely for sale, not a concept car,
one of 400 limited edition (it's all the rage)
Mazda 626s for Australian buyers.
It comes in silver or blue
with alloy wheels, spoiler, side trim,
and a 6 CD CD-player.
Air conditioning, power windows and mirrors and ABS brakes
are standard on all (au) 626s.
Prices:
LE Sedan, 5 sp manual $30,160,
LE Hatch, 5 sp manual $33,400,
LE Hatch, 4 sp auto $31,990 ($au).
This is said to be only $500 above regular rrp's for
an extra $2K of equipment.
2000, February: At the Geneva Motor Show
a twin-turbo' four wheel drive concept
car based on the Mazda 626.
The engine (KL-ZE) is a 2.5 litre V6 with twin turbo-chargers
and intercooler (206kW at 6500rpm, 392Nm at 4000rpm).
If the car were to go into production,
it would obviously rival the Subaru
Impreza
and the like
