2001 September: Improved Lotus Elises will soon be coming to Australia. The 900 changes mostly make the car easier to live with (and to get in and out of). Power is up slightly to 89. Rrp from 84,990 ( 2001).
2001:
Definitely an "it" car.
Anyone who can squeeze into the driver's seat
will be hard to prise out again.
2000: Lotus Elise 340R is a small run (just 340) minimalist sports car based on the Elise.
Meanwhile the
GM/ Opel Speedster
is based on the (regular) Lotus Elise.
1999:

The 1.8 litre Lotus Elise Sport.
Somehow Lotus just has "it" when it comes
to producing a hot little sports car with style.
The Elise makes the
MG MGF,
which is also rear-engined, look dowdy in comparison.
1996: Lotus was taken over by the Malaysian firm, Proton.
