1954 Land-Rover

This is a 1954 royal parade Land-Rover. The maroon colour [on some Royal Rovers] is known as 'Royal Claret' and is used, according to protocol, only for the reigning monarch. The 1958 vehicles were painted in this livery in anticipation of 1958 tour that did not go ahead. They were subsequently used in 1963 instead; and some were then repainted blue for use by HM The Queen Mother in a later tour.

Attached are some photos showing our baby as she was when we adopted her from Bob Atkins of Parkenham. She's now a bare chassis, waiting to be brought back to life!

The Land Rover was used by Queen Elizabeth on the 1954 royal tour.
