2001 January: Kia sold 3055 Kia Rios in 2000, contributing to a total of 9888 vehicle sales in Australia. Rio hatch 1.5 litre 16V 5-door hatch manual 14,990, Rio sedan 1.5 litre 16V 4-door sedan manual 14,990, automatic +2K ( 1/2001).
2000 November: The Kia Rio is available from 15K, half payable now and half 12 months later.
Standard features on the 4 and 5-door models include air conditioning, six speaker CD player, central locking and a driver's airbag.
The Rio has a 73 engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox option raises the price to 16.8K ( 11/2000).
