Jeep CJ4 ?

Civilian Jeep numbering jumps from CJ3B to CJ5. There were in fact experimental CJ4 Jeeps, being developed at about the same time as the M38A1 (~CJ5), but such a model was not marketted. Allen (1997) believes that just one CJ4 still exists ?in the US?

G'day from New Zealand, Thought you guys might like to look at this CJ4 Jeep (long wheel base CJ3B rarely seen in the USA in fact some consider it a myth). I have just finished the restoration for on and off-road which includes all mods certified for on-road use. It has top speed of approx 60mph is fairly low geared (grunt). Repowered with a Ford 250cu inch motor, non crossflow for better bottom end torque. (The original motor was the 2.2 liter F Head.) Power steering added, Roll cage, brush and side bars and sill protection. The body is mounted on 20mm of urathane to allow chassis twist and improve axle articulation. - Peter Renn [1/'00]
