2001 March: S-type Sport unveiled at the motor show. 2001 January: Jaguar announced that it will put the F-type sports car into production. 2001 +/-: The Jaguar X-type (code name X400) all wheel drive is expected. Think small/ medium sedan, transverse engine, front wheel drive with rear wheel drive tacked on. But still, a 4x4 Jag'!
2000: A Jaguar F1 Grand Prix car prior to
the Australian
round
of the 2000 world championship;
both Jaguars dropped out early in the race (12/3/00), one with a clutch
problem, the other after spinning and stalling while avoiding an accident.
Ford bought Jackie Stewart's `Stewart' F1 team in 1999
hoping to generate the kind of enthusiasm of Ferrari followers.
(The Ferraris of Schumacher and Barrichello came 1st and 2nd
in the Australian race.)
