Acura RS-X
2001 April 12:
Honda previewed the Acura RS-X at the New York International Auto Show.
Engine options are
a "standard" 2.0-litre 16-valve DOHC engine
with variable (valve) timing control (VTC) 119 & 191, and
a high performance version in the `RS-X type S' 149 & 192.
The former gets either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed sequential automatic
gearbox. The latter gets a close ratio 6-speed manual gearbox.
Suspension is by MacPherson struts at the front
and double wishbones at the rear.
Features include climate control air conditioning,
keyless entry with engine immobiliser, and power windows.
A 6-speaker sound system is standard with an i-dash CD player.
The type S gets a Bose sound system with 6 CD in-dash player.
On sale July 2001.

The prototype Acura RS-X sports coupe.
Production will begin later in 2001.
The RS-X uses a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine (149)
with 4-valves per cylinder and Honda's Variable Valve Timing and
Lift Electronic Control (CTEC) and
variable Timing Control (VTC).
It drives through a 6-speed manual transmission.
18-inch wheels and spray-on thin 225/45R18 tyres
complete "the look".
Creature comforts include
power windows, mirrors and door locks,
cruise control, power sun-roof,
and in-dash 6-CD player.
