The Explorer comes with a 4-litre V6 OHV engine.

1990 March 15: First Ford Explorer, 4-litre V6. 140,000 sold.
1995: Replaced by new model. Control-Trac 4WD system.
1996: 5-litre V8 offered (not .au).
1997: 4-litre SOHC V6 (OHV continues).
