1999
Ford Courier's lines recall the Ford
Explorer.
- 4wd.sofcom.com/4WD.html
The 1999 Ford Courier has a choice of two engines:
either the familiar 2.6 litre petrol engine
or a new 2.5 litre turbo-charged and intercooled diesel.
The petrol engine produces 92 at 4600 and 206 at 3500.
The 4-cylinder, sohc, 3-valves per cylinder
diesel produces 86 at 3500 and 280 at 2000
(rather behind the 101 and 300 of the 2.5 litre Td5 diesel in the
Discovery
and
Defender).
The chassis uses box-section members
and is said to be stiffer than that of the previous model.
Galvanised steel is used in the fenders, floor panel, wheel wells, load gate
and other panels.
All 4WD models get a 70 litre fuel tank;
the 4x2 super cab and crew cab have a 63 litre tank.
4WD GL models have standard 16" wheels,
4WD XL models 15" steel wheels and
2WD models have 14" wheels.
A driver's airbag is optional
and other safety features include side door anti-intrusion beams
and a collapsible steering column.
