LAND ROVER CLUB of the ACT
The Land Rover Club of the ACT is a non-profit, social and recreational club for residents of the ACT and region with a common interest in four wheel drive vehicles. Established in the 1960s by a group of Land Rover enthusiasts, the Club now caters for owners of all types of vehicles with serious off-road capability, including Fords, Jeeps, Land Rovers, Mitsubishis, Nissans and Toyotas. The Club's aim is to promote safe, responsible four wheel driving, consistent with the Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT Code of Ethics, as well as respect for the Australian environment and its cultural heritage. To this end, we provide advice to members on four wheel driving and recovery techniques and undertake related community activities, such as the recovery of abandoned vehicles from ACT forests and reserves and the restoration of Long Plain Hut. We also engage in demonstration events, including our regular 'Show & Tell' days and the 4WD Spectacular & Camping Show, held every two years at Queanbeyan Showground. However, our core activity is four wheel drive trips, from one-day adventures in the local region to journeys of many weeks’ duration to the most remote corners of Australia.
