1959 Goggomobil Dart not Goggomobile --> has a 400c two cylinder, air cooled engine. 700 were built in Australia and it is thought that maybe 30 still exist.

The first Goggomobils were made in Germany by Hans Glas in 1955, and by 1965 almost 300,000 had been produced and exported to 68 countries, body styles including sedans, coupes and vans. Production in Germany ceased in 1969 when the company was taken over by BMW. A few were imported into Australia, then in 1957 in a Sydney man, Bill Buckle, began importing the rolling chassis from Germany. He initially fitted his own fibreglass bodies in the same sedan design as the metal German bodies, and later designed and fitted the unique Dart open sports body (right). When Australian production ceased in 1961 [a total of] 5000 had been produced. It was powered by either the T300 motor (293cc two stroke giving 14.8 horsepower at 5000r and a top speed of 57 miles per hour) or the T400 motor (392cc two stroke giving 20 horsepower at 5000r and a top speed of 62 miles per hour) - Russell Medhurst RMedhurs of pacificaccess com rev ua --> [10/'00]
