Cape York
The Australian Geographic book of Cape York is a large soft-cover
book, with high production values, being particularly notable for
its photography and research.
There is coverage of the first people and their culture,
the coming of white men and early settlements,
gold discoveries, cattle farming, the track to the cape,
the west and east coasts, flora and fauna, tourism, ecology and the future.
The book was published in 1991.
It contains 168 pages, numerous photographs and
a large map (in a curious scale) with a satellite image on the reverse side.
At about au$25 it is good value for background reading,
although travellers should note that it is not a track guide.
