My 1963
Austin Gipsy.
It has fully independent, in rubber torsion suspension, which has a very smooth
ride. It is powered by the stock 4-cylinder 2.2 litre engine. The body is not
original.
The green Gipsy (also mine) is in it's original condition,
included lots of rust. They are both technical the same, except the
yellow one is totally rebuilt. They are for sale too.

Jeff Miller would like to hear from Gipsy owners:
My vehicle is a 1959 with the short wheel base and an Austin A90
engine. It has the 4 wheel independent suspension [Flexitor].
I purchased an owners
manual at a British car field meet and I have read it from cover to cover.
The book shows an available diesel engine. The manaual shows the transfer
case as having two shifters. One shift option on the transfer case gives you
front wheel drive only. Did any other manfacturers do this? [ed: news to me!]
The manual
also shows a mechanical air pump on the side of the transmission bell
housing. There is also a PTO shaft that runs out the back like a Land Rover
I believe. My Gipsy has only one handle for the transfer case, no air pump,
and no PTO. These vehicle were built from 1958 to 1968 as near as I can
tell. Maybe some of these option did not come on until later models.
