Reconnaissance Car (BRC) enthusiast Bill Spear
believes that this 4x4 might be a Ford GP,
one of Ford's own designs for the
World War Two "Jeep" contract.
Ford's prototype was the Ford Pygmy.
It and the subsequent Ford GP were
powered by a 45bhp 119cu" tractor engine.
About 4000 Ford GPs were built (Caroll ('97) states 4458), Ford then going on to manufacture large numbers of the Willy's design as the Ford GPW. Go to the
