2001:
Bantam
Reconnaissance Car (BRC) enthusiast Bill Spear
believes that this 4x4 might be a Ford GP,
one of Ford's own designs for the
World War Two "Jeep" contract.
G: Government, P: 80" wheelbase.
Ford's prototype was the Ford Pygmy.
It and the subsequent Ford GP were
powered by a 45bhp 119cu" tractor engine.
About 4000 Ford GPs were built (Caroll ('97) states 4458), Ford then going on to manufacture large numbers of the Willy's design as the Ford GPW.
